Mondragó Natural Park: unspoilt coves and protected nature

Just a 15-minute drive from Santanyí Penthouse lies one of Mallorca's best-preserved natural corners: Mondragó Natural Park. Almost 800 protected hectares where pine forests reach down to the sea, with golden-sand coves, wetlands, dunes and signposted trails. It's the ideal plan for a day when you want to combine beach and nature without the crowds.

Two coves for every taste

The heart of the park is its two beaches. S'Amarador is the larger one: fine sand, shade-giving pines and calm waters perfect for families. Caló des Burgit, smaller and more hidden, is usually much quieter, ideal if you're after a more intimate swim. Both keep their unspoilt character because building isn't allowed inside the park.

Trails through pines and viewpoints

Mondragó has several short, well-signposted walking routes suitable for all ages. They connect the coves with old farming paths, wetland areas for birdwatching and clifftop viewpoints. Bring comfortable shoes, water and, if you enjoy photography, don't miss the views from the high points at sunset.

Practical tips

There's a paid car park at the park entrance (it fills up early in high season, so get there early). You'll find a couple of beach bars next to S'Amarador, but it's a good idea to bring your own water and a picnic if you plan to spend the day. Respect the dunes and marked paths: it's a protected area, and part of its charm is precisely that it stays almost untouched.

After a day in Mondragó, heading back to the village of Santanyí for dinner in the square is the perfect end to a day of sea and nature.
